Profile - Chris Crampton

Chris CramptonChris has nearly 20 years experience in the travel industry, working across a number of different sectors, such as aviation, hotels, tour operations, retail and car rental.

Chris has a high level of commercial acumen, and offers a rational and profit-led approach to the strategy of sales management and representation. With an in-depth knowledge of a variety of market areas, he can provide a ready-made industry resource, both in terms of industry contacts and planning for future growth and profitability.

Chris entered the travel industry when he applied for a role in the call centre at Saga Holidays in the mid 1990s. After one month in the Long Haul department, he moved up to the Commercial department liasing between the US and UK divisions of the company. From there, he moved into the Aviation department and promptly fell in love with the aviation industry. When the opportunity came up to go to British Airways franchise carrier CityFlyer Express, he leapt at the chance. Initially looking after the tour operator and setting the nett rates, his role expanded to take in wider commercial responsibilities, including network planning and budgeting.

When CityFlyer was merged with British Airways, Chris took on the challenge of assessing and re-shaping BA's Gatwick network, before leaving the airline industry on a full time basis.

A spell in car rental in the EMEA markets followed, as did working for Nationwide Access and being responsible for the single biggest UK project for that industry at the time when creating an onsite depot for powered access equipment at Gatwick during the construction of Pier Six.

Chris then decided to make himself available as a consultant in 2005, and in that role remains in demand in the hotel, aviation and tour operating sectors, with a proven and verifiable track record of success.

Across these roles he has worked in sales, commercial, strategy, product, project management, research bringing the same focused approach to problem-solving and revenue generation. He remains passionate about travel, and the travel sector itself, regarding it as the most dynamic and exciting industry there is.

Chris lives in Sussex and covers the UK and Ireland
