Profile - Rhett Lego

Rhett LegoRhett is a well-respected tourism professional who has worked for almost two decades in a cross-section of senior roles in the international tourism industry in Australia and overseas. He has worked in both the public and private sectors. Rhett has also served on the boards of several travel industry bodies in Australia, including the Australian Tourism Export Council.

Rhett's areas of specialty are Strategic Marketing, Brand Positioning, Advertising, and Tourism Marketing, both at a destination level and at a product level. TCMG specialises particularly in promoting the Australasian, Indian and Pacific Oceans regions to the various European markets.

Rhett's current and past destination promotional achievements have centred on his roles as the Marketing Representation for Tourism Tropical North Queensland, Group Director of Trade Marketing for the Australian Tourist Commission (now Tourism Australia) and General Manager International Markets and Policy for Tourism Victoria.

Rhett was with the ATC from 1997 until 2002, during which time he was responsible for implementing trade marketing programmes to tie in with the Sydney 2000 Olympics. Prior to his role at the ATC, Rhett spent five years at Tourism Victoria, where he was highly involved in the iconic Jigsaw campaign one of Australia's most respected and successful tourism marketing and advertising campaigns.

Rhett has also worked in the hotel industry, and was responsible for the opening of Le Meridien's first Australian property as Director of Marketing and Sales -- so he knows what it is like to be on the supplier side of the fence. Until 2004, Rhett held the position of Director of Marketing and Vice President Marketing and Sales Asia Pacific for Earth Television Network AG in Germany.

When he is not working, Rhett enjoys woodworking, using a lathe to turn ragged bits of wood into design pieces. Unlike other members of Team TCMG, Rhett is not an avid sports fan, but he watches anything that involves Australia. He is a member of the Melbourne Cricket Club and supports the West Coast Eagles in Aussie Rules football.

Rhett lives in Munich and covers mainland Europe
